I may not enjoy the heat, but it appears my plants do! Last Thursday, I started lettuce, arugula, chard, kale, radishes, carrots, beets, turnips, onions, and leeks in the garden. By Sunday, I had arugula, radish, and turnip plants poking through the soil, and yesterday there were sightings of lettuce, beets, and kale. It’s been really, really hot, and humid, too.
Pots upon pots of starters line the front porch steps: tomatoes, peppers, dill, chives, basil, parsley, cilantro, squash, cucumbers and melons. The only one to have made an appearance yet is the basil. I keep meaning to move everything over to the side yard where the actual garden is but that has yet to happen. As long as the mailman doesn’t complain and Mr. Tucker doesn’t trample anything, the laziness will win out.
