Sugar plums that I bought on my birthday from Harbin’s farm stand. Howchow has a blog posted about Harbin’s and other farm stands in Howard County. There is also a link on the Howchow blog to an article featured in the Baltimore Sun about farming and local produce that has a nice mention of the Harbin farm stand.

Indeed they are real! They come from the tree Amelanchier canadensis. (I had to google that.) They are smaller and sweeter than traditional plums.
